It's my first post on 2012, the officially year of the end of the world... Hehehe.. What are the things on your mind when you hear about 2012? The end of the world, Mayan tribes or new civilization, right? As a muslim, I believe there will be the end of the world, but when it will come, it's the secret of Allah (it's the right of Allah), nobody knows. Prophet Muhammad PBUH, the prophet of muslims just informed the signs.

The signs of the final hour can bedivided into two groups.1) Minor signs
Minor signs are events of normalnature prophesised by our Prophet Muhammed to take place before Qiyamah like the consumption of alcohol,lifting of knowledge and prevalenceof ignorance and immorality and signs of this nature. The majority of theminor signs have appeared while some are occurring and some will appearwith major signs.
2) Major signs
Major signs are events of extraordinarynature prophesied by our Prophet to take place before Qiyamah like all the events mentioned in the followinghadith narrated by Hudhaifa ibn Usayd that the Prophet said, 'The last hour will not arrive till you have seen ten signs.He then mentioned the Smoke, Dajjal, Beast, Rising of the Sun from the placeof it's setting, the Descent of Isa, Ya'juj Ma'juj, Three Landslides, onein the East , one in the West and one in the Arabian Peninsula after thata Fire would spread from Yemen and drive the people to their place of gathering.'(Muslim)

The coming of Imaam Mahdi

The Coming of Imaam Mahdi is oneof the signs of Qiyamah as is the belief of the Ahlus-Sunnah and he hasyet to appear.
Abdullah-bin-Masood has reported that the Prophet said, "The world will not pass away before the Arabs are ruled by a man(referring to Mahdi) of my family whose name will be the same as mine."(Abu Daud)

Signs That Precede Him

1) A GeneralSign
There are many signs that will precedehim; a general and very important sign is that he will come at a time whenthere is great confusion, intense disputes and violent death.When people are afflicted by disturbances and fear. Calamities will fallupon the people, so much so that a man shall not find shelter to shelterhim from oppression. There will be many battles and fitnaas before hisappearance. Every time a fitnaa has come to an end, another will start,spread and intensify. The people will be troubled to such extent that theywill long for death. It is then that Imaam Mahdi will be sent.
Abu Saeed al-Khudri has reportedthat the Messenger of Allah said:
''He will be sent at a time of intensedisputes and differences among people and earthquakes.'' (Ahmad)

2) Note. The Double Eclipse In Ramadan statement quoted from Darequtniis NOT verified, indeed it's authenticity is questionable. It is NOT tobe considered as authentic Hadith.

3) TheBattle in Mina
Before Imaam Mahdi emerges an inter-tribalfight will take place. In the same year Haji'swill be looted and a battle will erupt in Mina in which many people willbe killed.
Amr-bin-Shuaib reported from hisgrandfather that the Messenger of Allah said, ''In Dhul-Qada(Islamic month) the tribes will fight, Hajis will be looted and there willbe a battle in Minain which many people will be slain and blood will flow until it runs overthe Jamara-tul-aqba. Their companions (referring to Imaam Mahdi) will fleeto a point between the Corner and the Maqaam and will be forced to acceptpeople's allegiance.'' (Al-Fitan Nuaim-b-Hammad)

4) TheEuphrates Will Disclose Mountain of Gold

The final hour will not come untilthe river Euphrates (which flows through Syria and Iraq and finally opensin the Gulf) will disclose a mountain of gold over which people will fightand die. It should be noted that this is a sign, which will precede ImaamMahdi only according to some Ulama. Abu Huraira (R.A.) reported that theMessenger of Allah said, ''The hour shall not occur until the Euphrates will disclose a mountainof gold over which people will fight . Ninety- nine out of whichhundred shall be killed and every one of them will say' Perchance I shallbe the one to succeed. ''(Muslim)
In another narration we have beentold that whoever is present at the time when the Euphrates discloses amountain of gold should not take the gold.

5) Emergenceof the Suffyani
The Suffyani (a descendant of AbuSufyan) will emerge before Imam Mahdi from the depths of Damascus. Accordingto some weak narration his name will be Urwa bin Muhammed and his Kuniya'Abu-Utba'. The Ahadith regarding the Suffyani specify that he is a tyrantwho will spread corruption and mischief on the earth before Imam Mahdi.He will be such a tyrant that he will kill the children and rip open thebellies of women. When he hears about the Mahdi, he will send an army toseize and kill him. However the Earth will swallow this army before iteven reaches Imam Mahdi.
Abu Huraira (R.A.) has narratedthat the Prophet said, ''A man will emerge from the depth of Damascus. He will be calledSuffyani. Most of those who follow him will be from the tribe of Kalb.He will kill by ripping the stomachs of women and even kill the children.A man from my family will appear in Haram, the news of his advent willreach the Suffyani and he will send forth one of his armies. He (referringto Imam Mahdi) will defeat them. They will then travel with whoever remainsuntil they come to a desert and they will be swallowed . None will be savedexcept the one who had informed the others about them. '' (Mustadarak)

6) The Emergenceof Haris-Al-Harrath and Mansur
Hazrat Ali reported that the Prophet said, ''There will be a man from Transoxania who will be called Harith-Harrathand a man called Mansur will be at his vanguard. He will give abode tothe family of Mohammad (referring to Imam Mahdi) just as the Quraish gaveabode to the Prophet (Mishkat)

7) An armywill perish in Baidah
Once he has appeared an army thathas come to fight him will perish in Baidah (a flat piece of land nextto Madinah facing the direction of Makkah).
Umme-Salama (R.A.) reported thatthe Prophet ''There shall be differences and intense dispute at the time of the deathof a Khalifh. Then a man from the inhabitants of Madinah (referring toImam Mahdi) will come out of the flee to Makkah (so that he does not getcaught in the dispute and is not made the Khalifh). Some Makkans will cometo him and take him out though he will be unwilling. They will then makehim accept their Bayat between the Black Stone and the place of Ibrahim .An army will then be sent to fight him from Syria , however it will perishin Baidah, between Makkah and Madinah. When the people see and hear aboutthis event ,the awliya (God fearing people) of Syria and Iraq will makeBayat with him.'' (Abu Daud)

8) Astar with a luminous tail will rise from the east before his emergence.     (Al-Iza'ah).

9) Avoice in Ramadhan willawaken sleeps and alarm those that are awake                        (Ibid)

10) Theemergence of al-A'hraj al-Kindi, Abqa and Ashab before Imam Mahdi                  (Ibid)

11) Theearth will swallow a village near Damascus                                                             (Ibid)

12) Anarmy with black banners will come from the East                                                    (Ibid)

Dajjal

The emergence of the Dajjal is themost important sign as his trial and fitna will be the biggest ever seenon the Face of the earth and even those firm in faith will be shaken.
The Messenger of Allah said, "Between the creation of Prophet Adam and the coming of the last hour, their will arise no matter more seriousthan the Dajjal." (Imran-b-Hussain/ Muslim)
Due to the severity of this turmoil,every Prophet from the first to the last warned and informed his peopleabout, the Dajjal and his turmoil. (Anas / Bukhari, Muslim)
The Dajjal will appear once the Muslim army, have conquered Constantinopleand reached Syria. Emerging from the east, moving from city to city hewill perform unusual feat and cause fitna wherever he goes. Before we moveonto his trials many important questions need to be answered. 'Is he alive?''Which signs will precede him?' 'How will we recognise him?' and so forth.

SafeHaven of Makkah and Madinah

The Dajjal will remain on earth for40 days, the first of which will be a year long, second a month , the thirda week, and the remaining 37 days like our normal days, moving from cityto another causing fitna. Finally he will proceed towards Makkahand Madinabut he will be unable to enter these holy cities,Masjid Tur and Masjid al-Aqsa. Every time he tries to enterthese holy places, angels guarding these holy cities with swords in theirhand will encounter him and chase him away, leaving Dajjal stationed behindUhud. Meanwhile, earthquakes will hit Madinah thrice and allthe hypocrites will be forced to leave.

Protectionfrom Dajjal

Recitingof Surah - Kahf
The recitation of Surah Kahf isa safe guard from the Dajjal's turmoil. The Prophet (s) said, "Whoevermemorises the first ten verses of Surah Kahf will be safe from the Dajjal'sFitna."   (Abu-Darda / Muslim)
The Prophet said, 'Whoever meets the Dajjal amongst you then he should recite the openingverse of Surah Kahf onto him."    (Nawwas-b-Samaan / Muslim)

Seekingrefuge in Allah
Whoever seeks Allah's refuge andprotection from Dajjal's fitna especially in Salah, Inshallah will be protected.
The Prophet would pray in Salah, "Oh Allah protect me from the punishment of the graveand protect me from Dajjal's fitna."   (Aisha / Bukhari / Muslim)

Stayingmiles apart
When the Dajjal appears one shouldstay as far away from him as possible. The Prophet said, "Those who hear about the Dajjal should stay far from him. By Allah!A person will approach him thinking him to be a believer, but on seeinghis amazing feats he will become his follower." (Imran-b-Hussain/ Abu Daud)

SafeHaven of Makkah and Madinah
One should try to migrateto Makkah or Madinah, as he will not be able to enter these two holy cities.Thus one will be protected from his fitna. (Fatimah-b-Qais / Muslim)

Knowledgeof Allah's Attributes
One should seek Islamic knowledgeespecially knowledge of Allah's attributes. By possessing knowledge ofAllah's attributes one will not be misled by the Dajjal. This knowledgeteaches that Allah is perfect, can't be seen, and not in need of anythingwhile the Dajjal is imperfect, can be seen by both believers and non-believersand in need of food and water.

ReturnOf Prophet Isa

Brief Historyof Prophet Isa
      Dueto the fact that the Jews had become deaf and blind to the words of Godand deviated from the teachings of Moses and the right path, Allah honoured Isawith Prophethood and sent him as a messenger to the children of Israel.Bearing all hardships Prophet Isaspent all day and night conveying the message of Allah. Unfortunately,in spite of his tremendous effort the children of Israel did not respondand accept the message. Seeing that the poor and weak were becoming inclinedtowards him and fearing they would lose their leadership the Jews secretlytried to kill him. However Allah saved Prophet Isa from their wicked scheme and gave him greater dignity by raising him aliveto the heavens.
Allah says in the Quran, "They didnot kill him and nor did they crucify him but the resemblance of him (Isa )was put over another man and those who differ there in, are in doubt. Theyhave no certain knowledge. They are following nothing but conjecture forsurely they did not kill him but Allah raised him up to him." (Surah Nisa)
Allah says in the Quran "When Allahsays, Jesus; I will take thee to me and I will purify thee of the unbelievers"(Surah A'li-Imran)
These verses clearly prove that theJews did not kill Prophet Isaand that he was raised alive to the heavens. It is due to verses like thosementioned above and many authentic Ahadith we Muslims believe that Prophet Isais alive in heaven at this moment in time. We further believe due to thefollowing verses and authentic Ahadith that Prophet Isawill return before Qiyamah and his return is a major sign of Qiyamah.
Allah says in the Quran,"And he (son of Mary) shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the hour."      (Surah Zukhruf)
    Ibne Abbas hassaid that the meaning of this verse is that Prophet Isa's descentbefore Qiyamah is a sign of Qiyamah. (Ibne Abbas/ Musnad)
Allah says, "There is not a singlesection of the people of the book that will certainly believe in Isabefore his death and on the Day of Resurrection he will be a witness againstthem." (Surah Nisa) This verse clearly indicates that before the demiseof Prophet Isaeveryone from the people of the book will believe in him. The Jews willdisappear as Jews after his demise but at the present the Jews are verymuch there. The conclusion is clear that the Prophet Isa hasnot died; if so all the Jews would have become believers, which they havenot. He will return before Qiyamah and it is then that all the people ofthe book will believe in him.
Jabir (R.A) reported that the Messengerof Allah said, "A party of my followers will not cease to fight for victoryuntil the Day of Resurrection. He said, then Isa, son of Mary, will comedown. Their Imaam will say, "Come and lead our prayer" He will reply, "Someof you are rulers over others on account of divine honour upon these people."   (Muslim)
Abu Huraira (R.A) reported that theMessenger of Allah said, "By the one whose hands my life is in, surely the son of Maryam()will descend amongst you as a just ruler. He will destroy the cross, killthe swine and abolish the tax."   (Bukhari)
Hadrat Hudaifah-b-Osaid reported:The Holy Prophet suddenly came to us while we were talking. He asked, "What are you talkingabout?" They replied "We were talking about the last hour." Prophet (s)said, "It will never come until you see ten signs before it," He then mentionedthe Smoke, the Dajjal, the Beast, the Rising of the Sun in its place ofsetting, the Descent of Isa son of Mary and Yajuj and Ma'juj. (Muslim)

Prophet Isa's TasksProphet Isawill have three main tasks, when he descends on the Earth for the secondtime:
1) The first and most importantwill be that he will destroy the Dajjal.
2) Protect the Muslims fromthe barbarous tribes of Yajuj and Majuj by taking them to Mount Tur andthen Praying for their (Yajuj and Majuj's) destruction.
3) Reign as a Khalifh accordingto the Quran and Sunnah and elevate Islam.

Ya'jujMa'juj (Gog and Magog)

The emergence of the mighty tribesof Ya'juj and Ma'juj is also a major sign of Qiyamah.
Allah says in the Qur'an, "WhenYa'juj and Ma'juj are let loose (from their Barrier) and they swiftly swarmfrom every mound"   (Surah Al-Anbiya)
Allah says in the Qur'an, " (Zulqarnain)said, 'This is a mercy from my Lord, but when the promise of my Lord comes,He shall level it down (the barrier) to the ground. And the promise ofmy Lord is ever true."   (Surah Al-Kahf)
Zainab-b-Zahash says: "Once the Prophet awoke from such a sleep that his face was red and these words were on histongue, "There is none worthy of worship but Allah. Destruction is uponthe Arabs on account of that evil which has come close to them. Today ahole as big as this has opened in the wall of Yajuj and Ma'juj. (The Prophet indicated the size of the hole with his finger and thumb)"  (Bukhari/Muslim)
In the lengthy Hadith of Nawwas-b-Samanit has been mentioned, "And Allah will send Yajuj and Ma'juj and they willcome from every lofty place." (Muslim)

Landslides

There will be three landslides beforeQiyamah like never seen before. One in the East, one in the West and onein Arabia. The Earth will swallow everything above it and as a result,many people will die. However, everybody will be raised according to hisintentions. This will take place when evil prevails.
Hudhaifa-b-Usaid al-Ghifari reported:Allah's Messenger came to us all of a sudden as we were (busy in discussion) He said: "Whatare you discussing?" They (the companions) said: "We are talking aboutthe last hour." Thereupon he said: "It will not come until you see ten signs before it, He made a mentionof the Smoke, the Dajjal, the Beast, the Rising of the Sun from the West,the Descent of Jesus, Son of Mary,the emergence of Ya'juj and Ma'juj, and Landsliding will occur in threeplaces, One in the East, one in the West and one in Arabia at the end ofwhich a fire would burn forth from Yemen, which would drive people to theplace of their assembly." (Muslim)
Umme Salmah reported that I heardthe Messenger of Allah saying, "After me there will be a landslide in the East, a landslide inthe West and a landslide in the Peninsula of Arabia." I asked, "Oh Messengerof Allah will the Earth give way, though there are some pious people aboveit." The Prophet replied, "When its inhabitants exceed doing bad and evil." (Tabrani Fil-Awsat)

TheSmoke

Allah says, ''So thou wait for theday when the heaven shall bring a smoke manifest surrounding the peoplethis is a painful Chastisement.'' ( Surah-Dhukan)

Wasila-Bb-l-Asqa reported, ''I heardthe Prophet saying, ''The final hour will not come until you see ten signs.'' (one of the ten mentioned was the smoke) (Muslim)
It is clearly evident from the aboveverse and Ahadith that the smoke is a major sign of Qiyamah. It will riseand cover the whole world. The smoke will affect both the believers andnon-belivers alike remaining for a period of 40 days and night. The believerswill be affected a little as if suffering from cold while the smoke willenter the brains of the non-belivers and make them unconscious¹.

Risingof the Sun from the West

The rising of the sun from the westis also a major sign of Qiyamah proven by the Qur'an and Sunnah.
Allah says in the Qur'an, "The daywhen some signs of your Lord will come, no good will it do to a personto believe then, if he believed not before, nor earned good (by performingdeeds of righteousness) through his faith."    (Surah Al-An'aam)
The verse is referring to the risingof the sun from the west, as is the opinion of the majority of the commentators. (Tabari/Ibne Kathir)
Imam Tabari, after mentioning thedifferent opinions of the commentators writes, "The most correct opinionin regards to the meaning of this verse is that what is apparent from thereports narrated from the Prophet that he said,"(lmaan will be of no benefit) when the sun rises from the west."   (Tabari)
Abu Huraira reported that the HolyProphet said, "Hasten to do good deeds before six (things happen) :Rising of thesun from the west."   (Mishkat)

TheBeast

The Beast is also a major sign ofQiyamah. Allah says in the Qur'an, "And when the word is fulfilled concerningthem. We shall bring forth a Beast of the Earth to speak unto them becausemankind had no faith in our revelation." (Surah An-Naml)
Abdullah-b-Umar said, "I memoriseda Hadith from the Messenger of Allah which I have not forgotten. I heard the Messenger of Allah saying, 'The first of the signs that will come is the rising of the sunfrom the place of its setting and the emergence of the Beast upon the people.Whichever of these two occurs before the other then the other is rightbehind it."    (Muslim)
Commentating on the above verse IbneKathir has said that the beast will appear very near the end of time. Whendisintegration, corruption, kufr and evil prevail, commands of Allah areignored, the Deen changed and made a mockery of, it is then Allah willtake out the Beast from the earth.   (Ibne Kathir)
Imam Hakim in the light of the aboveHadith has said that the rising of the sun from the west will take placebefore the emergence of the Beast. The Beast will appear on the same daythe sun has risen from the west or very soon thereafter. Ibne Hajar afterquoting Imam Hakim mentions, "The wisdom in the Beast appearing after thesun has risen from the west is that the door of repentance will close atthe time the sun rises from the west. Thus the Beast will emerge to distinguishthe believers from the non-believers completing the aim of closing thedoor of repentance."    (Fathul-Bari)
Task
The task of the Beast will be todistinguish the believers from the non-believers, with Prophet Moosa'sstaff it will draw a line on the forehead of every believer whereby hisface will become bright and luminous and with the ring of Sulamanit will seal the nose of every non-believer where by his whole face willbecome black. Thus there will be complete distinction between the Muslimand non-Muslirn, so that if many parties sit at a dinner table, the Muslimand non-Muslirn will be distinguished.   (Abu Huraira-MusnadAhmad/Tirmidhi)
The Beast will also talk to people.It will say, "Mankind had no faith in our revelations."   (IbneKathir)

TheFire

The last major sign to appear beforethe Day of Judgement is the fire which will come out from the Yemen andgather the people in the place of their assembly.
In the Hadith of Hudaifa-b-Usaidregarding the Major signs the Prophet said, "At the end of which a fire would burn out from Yemen and would drivepeople to the place of their assembly." (Muslim)
Narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A) theProphet said, "The people will be gathered in three ways:
1.The first way will be of thosewho will wish or have a hope (for paradise) and will have a fear (of punishment).
2.The second batch will be thosewho will gather riding, two on a camel or three on a camel or ten on acamel.
3.The third batch will be the restof the people who will be urged to gather by the fire which will accompanythem at the time of their afternoon nap and stay with them where they willspend the night, and will be with them in the morning wherever they maybe then, and will be with them in the afternoon wherever they may be then. (Bukhari)

We can see that some of the signs mentioned above have happened, some of them have not happened yet. And it will get closer. Wallahu 'alam..

When somebody told me that rendang is the most delicious food in the world, i don't believe it. So i try googling, and i missed the information. I open wikipedia to read about rendang. Below is the writing about rendang i took from wikipedia.

Rendang is a dish which originated from the Minangkabau ethnic group of Indonesia,and is now commonly served across the country.One of the characteristic foods of Minangkabau culture, it is served at ceremonial occasions and to honour guests.Also popular in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the southern Philippines and southern Thailand, rendang is traditionally prepared by the Malay community during festive occasions. Though rendang is sometimes described as being like a curry, and the name is sometimes applied to curried meat dishes in Malaysia, authentic rendang is nothing like a curry.In Malay classical literature, rendang is mentioned in Hikayat Amir Hamzahas early as the 1550s.
In 2011 an online poll by 35,000 people held by CNN International chose Rendang as the number one dish of their 'World’s 50 Most Delicious Foods' list.

Composition

Rendang is made from beef (or occasionally beef liver, chicken, mutton, water buffalo, duck, or vegetables like jackfruit or cassava) slowly cooked in coconut milk, spices and sometimes kerisik (toasted coconut paste) for several hours until almost all the liquid is gone, allowing the meat to absorb the spicy condiments. The cooking process changes from boiling to frying as the liquid evaporates. The slow cooking process allows the meat to absorb all the spices and to become tender. The spices may include ginger, galangal, turmeric leaf, lemon grass and chillies. Chicken or duck rendang also contains tamarind and is usually not cooked for as long as beef rendang.

Types

There are two kinds of rendang: dried and wet. Dried rendang can be kept for three to four months, and it is for ceremonial occasions or to honour guests. Wet rendang, also known as kalio, can be found in Minangkabau restaurants, and without refrigeration, it should be consumed within a month.
Rendang is often served with rice, ketupat (Indonesian compressed rice cake), and lemang (glutinous rice barbecued in bamboo tubes) in Indonesia.

Revolution Against Capitalist

I just would like to share what in my mind via my blog because the news about demonstrations “anti wall street” took my attention. As we know that the headline news on every information medias mentioned that there were many demonstrations against capitalist happened in 82 countries from 4 continents.

First time demonstration was done by some college students by staying overnight on Zuccoti Park, New York, US. They worried about their future when government cut the budget from some sectors. They blamed banks which made policy, and it’s in conflict with reality in public. Their action took public attention, and get supports from many people. Some people started to join. And demonstration of “anti wall street” began.

When the amount of demonstrators increased, more than 700 people got arrested last week in Broklyn Bridge. It did not make the supporters decrease, on the contrary, the demonstrators increase, even it influenced to many countries. Then thousands people walked on the street to join the demonstrations without a leader. They are the leader. They united to express their disappointment of the economy system that made the gap between the rich men (described as 1%) and 99% of the rest. They protested to some big companies and banks for their greediness. They hailed “Occupy Wall Street”, in some areas in US, like in Chicago, they mentioned “Occupy Chicago”, in London they said “Occupy London”.

The demonstration spread to many countries in 4 continents (England, Italy, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, etc). Thousands people involved in global demonstrations in the whole world.

In England, on October 15^th, 2011 there were more than two thousands join in demonstration in front of St. Cathedral, London, the center of economiy in England. They protested the banks often issued policies getting to side to rich men.

Julian Assange, the creator of Wikileaks, with some guards also joint in demonstration in London. He wished there were results from the demo, it’s the revolution against capitalist.

And he also said that the demonstrations happened would push to create a new balance in the market mechanism done by mostly government in the world. I found an interesting article about the lost continent of Atlantis was finally found. But where is it? There are many articles or opinions mentioned in the world. But Aryso Santos had been doing the research for 30 years and he got conclusion that the lost continent of Atlantis is in Indonesia.

Atlantis comes from the Sanskrit Atala, which means heaven or review tower (watch tower), Atalaia (Potugis), Atalaya (Spanish). Plato asserts that the area at the time Atlantis was the center of world civilization in the form of culture, natural resources, science / technology, and others. However, there are circumstances present that between Plato and Santos agreed. Namely first, that the location of the sunken continent of Atlantis and by Santos confirmed as the territory of the Republic of Indonesia. Second, the number or length of the chain of volcanoes in Indonesia. Among them is the Kerinci, Gutters, Krakatoa, Malabar, Galunggung, Pangrango, Merapi, Merbabu, Semeru, Bromo, the Great, Rinjani. Some of the mountain has been or is being active again.

This month my father had a birthday. Honestly i never knew his birthday. Shame on me.... Until my sister texted me and said that today (June 12th) was dad's birthday. I just said OK, because we never had deep communication or less communication.
Then, when i had performance with friends, one of them sang the song "Ayah", means Dad. The song moved me. So i moved my fingers to check in my phone cell and tried to find my dad's number. After i found it, i called him. Although we had less conversation, i tried to say: " Happy birthday, Dad. And i love you.. You've raised me up. I'll never forget that i got your blood inside me. I never forget what you have taught me. Thank you very much, you raised me up."
He said," OK, thanks."

I knew that he was speechless, and i knew that he always love me. I called my mom, she said," I don't know why, your father got a call from someone i don't know who, and he got his tears dropped. I never saw him cry."
Now i know that we speak with our hearts... He never told me that he love me, but i know he does and always will. He never told me that he was so proud of me, but i know he was and always be. My dad had taught me many things i'll never forget. He also gave me strength whenever i weak. He supported me and always will, because i know it from each pray, he's always in my heart.

Batam is Very Hot

Last weekend people who live in Batam Island, Indonesia had felt hot for two days. According to Indonesian agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) mentioned that temperature on Batam was 35°C (maximum) on Sunday, May 8th, 2011. It made people felt uncomfortable although we turn the air conditioning on, and we still felt very hot.

BMKG said that it could happen because of season changing from rainy season to dry season. Beside that changing of wind direction and earth in closest position with the sun also made the effect of this hot weather on tropical area, including Batam Island, Indonesia. All area in Indonesia was also the same.

Batam Island is archipelago area, so the most area is water, so it would be easy to make water sublimating. It means there would be possibility for raining even in dry season in 2 or 3 days . But it would happen on some areas.
And this morning it happened, when i went to work, i saw to the sky cloudy. And it rained after i arrived to my office. Hmm.. I got lucky (but not for my friends, some of them came to the office in wet).
According BMKG it's also dangerous because it was columbus cloud. It was black cloud, containing water with electrics powers and could generate thunder. Some days ago there was a girl in Batam dead because of getting shock of thunder. That's why BMKG remind people for aware the dangerous and to be careful.

Roubini: Your book [The End of the Free Market: Who Wins the War Between States and Corporations?] suggests that an old trend, what you call state capitalism, has become much more important. What happened to change things?

Bremmer: Over the past 18 months, the Western financial crisis and the global recession have accelerated the inevitable transition from a G7 to a G20 world. That’s not just a matter of more states at the bargaining table. It’s not just about having to herd more cats to get things done on the international stage. It’s about herding cats together with other animals that don’t really like cats. And that’s not really herding.

The G7 world was one where everyone that mattered for growth in the global economy accepted the assumption that prosperity depended on rule of law, independent courts, transparency and a free media—and in the value of free market capitalism. In that world, multinational corporations are the principle economic heavyweights. This consensus has provided the engine driving globalization for the past 40 years.

The sun has set on that world. The country that has emerged strongest and fastest from the global slowdown is one that does not accept the idea that a regulated free market economy is crucial for sustainable economic growth. China’s success has persuaded authoritarians around the world that they really can have explosive growth without undermining their monopoly hold on domestic political power. China has enjoyed double-digit growth for thirty years without freedom of speech, without well-established economic rules of the road, without judges that can ignore political pressure, without credible property rights—without democracy. And the events of the past 18 months have made China more important that ever for the future of global economic growth. This is a big change with enormous implications that we had better start thinking through.

Roubini: The term state capitalism means different things to different people. How do you explain it today?

Bremmer: I’m writing about a system in which the state uses the power of markets primarily for political gain. A country’s political leaders know that command economies will eventually fail, but they’re afraid that if they allow space for markets that are truly free, they’ll lose control of how wealth is generated. They could end up empowering others who will use markets to generate revenue that can then be used to challenge the government’s authority to dominate the country’s political life. So they use national oil companies, other state-owned enterprises, privately owned but politically loyal national champion companies, and sovereign wealth funds to exercise as much control as possible over the creation of wealth within the country’s borders. And they send these companies and investment fund abroad to secure deals that increase the state’s political and geopolitical leverage in a variety of ways.

This system is fundamentally incompatible with a free market system.

Roubini: Creating friction between the state capitalists and other governments. To say nothing of privately owned companies.

Bremmer: Exactly, yes. In a free market system, multinational corporations are looking to maximize profits. In markets that are not intelligently regulated, and we’ve seen this in the United States, they're looking to maximize short-term gains at the expense of sustainable, long-term growth for their shareholders or for their own compensation. The past two years have reminded us of the sometime excesses of free market capitalism.

In a state capitalist system-- the principle economic actors are looking first to achieve political goals. Profits are subordinate to that goal. In other words, if profits serve the state’s interests, they’ll pursue profits. But if the state needs a state-owned oil company to pay through the nose to lock up long-term supplies to the oil, gas, metals and minerals needed to secure the long-term growth that keeps workers in their jobs, off the streets, and the political leaders in power, profits and efficiency can become political liabilities and these companies will pay whatever it takes to get what their political patrons want.

But the state-owned companies are competing with multinationals that won’t overpay, that can’t overpay. Here, the injection of politics into market activity distorts the outcome—in this case by raising the price that we all pay for energy and other commodities.

Roubini: When you mention the state capitalist countries, which ones do you specifically have in mind?

Bremmer: We find state capitalist powers among the Arab monarchies of the Persian Gulf-- Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are the most important. You see this trend, of course, in Putin’s Russia. There are other examples of countries that mix free market with state capitalist policies. But we wouldn’t be talking about state capitalism as game-changer for international politics and the global economy if it weren’t for China, now the world’s second largest economy and its fastest growing major marketplace.

Roubini: The End of the Free Market is a provocative title. Are you trying to out-Doom me?

Bremmer: You know I wouldn’t do that. But you have to admit, it’s not an exaggeration. It’s not that I think the United States is going to throw away its free market principles. It's not about President Obama being some kind of socialist. Washington will tighten the regulation of financial markets in coming months, and some people won’t like that. Americans will not lose their faith in the power of free market capitalism to generate prosperity. But that can’t be said for the rest of the world.

The global economic system is no longer driven by consensus around these values. There are now competing forms of capitalism. You used the word friction. That’s exactly the right word. Friction, competition, even conflict. There will be winners and losers, and the world’s political and business leaders better begin to try to sort out who those winners and losers will be.

Roubini: Do you mean that state capitalists will be winners and those who bank on free markets will lose?

Bremmer: Not necessarily. We’re going to see governments around the world that no longer feel bound to follow the Western rulebook of decades past. We’ll see multinational corporations struggling to adapt, because foreign investment will become much less predictable and much more complicated. And the backing they get from their home governments won’t carry as much weight.

Yet, some of them will be more successful than others at learning to compete on a playing field that isn’t level. There are very good reasons to doubt that the state capitalists will have staying power. But for now, they have lots of new clout and plenty of advantages. Over the next five, ten, twenty years, state capitalist governments and the companies and institutions they empower will be a serious—and global--force to be reckoned with.

The threat for Americans is that all this is happening at a moment when people are struggling, and their elected leaders have every incentive to respond to that fear and anger with promises to throw up walls meant to protect them from all these changes. Americans have always prided themselves on tearing down walls, not building them. State capitalism and American populism will put that faith to the test.

Roubini: Were you tempted to call your book The End of Globalization?

Bremmer: No, this isn’t the end of globalization. It is the end of globalization’s singular, overriding power to shape our lives and the future of the global economy. Globalization depends on access to global consumer markets, capital markets, and labor markets. State capitalism compromises all three. Globalization still matters, and it will continue to matter for the foreseeable future. But it is no longer the fundamental driver of growth in a global economy that looks increasingly toward China for the next expansion.

Reporters Targeted in Cairo, Egypt

As we know that clashes happened on Wednesday between pro government and anti government Egyptians in Tahrir Square, Cairo, Egypt. More than 10 people reported to be killed, and thousands people got injured. The days before the clashes happened, wave of more-than-2-million protesters demanding President Hosni Mubarak to step down.
It was broadcast live by some international television and journalists.

There were several reports of foreign journalists being arrested or harassed. Dozens of them had their equipment confiscated.

Among the many detained were correspondents for the New York Times, Washington Post and Al Jazeera. The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said late on Thursday that in just the past 24 hours, it had recorded 24 detentions of journalists, 21 assaults and five cases in which equipment was seized.

Angry men carjacked an ABC News crew and threatened to behead the journalists, but the crew managed to talk its way free, according to the network.

Al Jazeera said three of its journalists were detained by security forces, four were attacked and another was missing. It reported on Thursday night that the arrested journalists had been released.

The channel, which the Egyptian authorities accuse of favouring the protesters, also said its equipment have been stolen and destroyed and its broadcast signal disrupted across the Arab world.

CPJ said on Wednesday that violence against journalists was part of a series of deliberate attacks and called on the Egyptian military to provide protection for reporters.

For her part, Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, condemned "in the strongest terms" the pro-government mobs that beat, threatened and intimidated reporters in Cairo.

Attacks as well on peaceful demonstrators, human rights activists, foreigners and diplomats were "unacceptable under any circumstances", she said.

"There is a clear responsibility by the Egyptian government, including the army, to protect those threatened and to hold accountable those responsible for these attacks," Clinton said

Shahira Amin, a senior journalist at Nile Television, a government-owned network, walked out on Wednesday in anger that state TV was not broadcasting enough of the protests and clashes in Tahrir Square.

Though less numerous than earlier in the week, there were demonstrations on Thursday in Suez and Ismailia, industrial cities where inflation and unemployment have kindled the sort of dissent that hit Tunisia and which some believe could ripple in a domino effect across other Arab police states.

There were also protests in the port city of Alexandria.

Oil prices have climbed on fears the unrest could spread to affect Saudi Arabia or interfere with oil supplies from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal.

Brent crude rose above $103 a barrel on Thursday.

As the security situation in Cairo deteriorates, governments and companies are chartering evacuation flights. Between 10,000 and 13,000 passengers fled the city on Wednesday aboard around 95 flights.

Clashes rage in Tahrir Square - Middle East - Al Jazeera English

Cairo, Egypt. Aljazeera report. At least one person has been killed and another 600 injured in continuing clashes between pro- and anti-government demonstrators in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

Protesters from both sides fought pitched battles on Wednesday in Tahrir [Liberation] Square, the epicentre of ongoing opposition demonstrations against President Hosni Mubarak for the past nine days

Al Jazeera correspondents, reporting from the scene, said clashes were still raging and that petrol bombs were being hurled.

"Someone - a few people actually - are dropping homemade bombs into the square from the buildings surrounding it," our online producer said.

Gunshots are also regularly ringing out of the square.

Earlier, witnesses said the military allowed thousands of pro-Mubarak supporters, armed with sticks and knives, to enter the square. Opposition groups said Mubarak had sent in thugs to suppress anti-government protests.

One of our correspondents said the army seemed to be standing by and facilitating the clashes.

Though initially put on the backfoot by the sudden attack, determined anti-government protesters looked to be winning the battle against Mubarak supporters.

'Absolute mayhem'

Witnesses also said that pro-Mubarak supporters were dragging away protesters they had managed to grab and handing them over to security forces.

Salma Eltarzi, an anti-government protester, told Al Jazeera there were hundreds of wounded people.

"There are no ambulances in sight, and all we are using is Dettol," she said. "We are all so scared."

Aisha Hussein, a nurse, said dozens of people were being treated at a makeshift clinic in a mosque near the square.

She described a scene of "absolute mayhem", as protesters first began to flood into the clinic.
Al Jazeera's special coverage on Egypt

"People are coming in with multiple wounds. All kinds of contusions. We had one guy who needed stitches in two places on his face. Some have broken bones."

Mustafa Hussein, a physician who was treating the injured at a makeshift hospital near Liberation Square, told Al Jazeera that most of the injured protesters "coming in today are suffering from head injuries resulting from rocks being thrown at them".

Meanwhile, another Al Jazeera correspondent said men on horseback and camels had ploughed into the crowds, as army personnel stood by.

At least six riders were dragged from their beasts, beaten with sticks by the protesters and taken away with blood streaming down their faces.

One of them was dragged away unconscious, with large blood stains on the ground at the site of the clash.

The worst of the fighting was just outside the world famous Egyptian Museum, which was targeted by looters last week.

Al Jazeera's correspondent added that a group of pro-government protesters took over army vehicles. They also took control of a nearby building and used the rooftop to throw concrete blocks, stones, and other objects.

Soldiers surrounding the square took cover from flying stones, and the windows of at least one army truck were broken. Some troops stood on tanks and appealed for calm but did not otherwise intervene.

Many of the pro-Mubarak supporters raised slogans like "Thirty Years of Stability, Nine Days of Anarchy".

Violence

Al Jazeera's Jane Dutton, also in Cairo, said that security guards have also been seen amongst the pro-Mubarak supporters, and it may be a precursor to the feared riot police arriving on the scene.

Dutton added that a journalist with the Al-Arabiya channel was stabbed during the clashes.

Fighting took place around army tanks deployed around the square, with stones bouncing off the armoured vehicles.

Several groups were involved in fist fights, and some were using clubs. The opposition also said many among the pro-Mubarak crowd were policemen in plain clothes.

"Members of security forces dressed in plain clothes and a number of thugs have stormed Tahrir Square," three opposition groups said in a statement.

Mohamed ElBaradei, a prominent opposition figure, accused Mubarak of resorting to scare tactics. Opposition groups have reportedly also seized police identification cards amongst the pro-Mubarak demonstrators.

"I'm extremely concerned, I mean this is yet another symptom, or another indication, of a criminal regime using criminal acts," ElBaradei said.

"My fear is that it will turn into a bloodbath," he added, calling the pro-Mubarak supporters a "bunch of thugs".

ElBaradei has also urged the army to intervene.

"I ask the army to intervene to protect Egyptian lives," he told Al Jazeera, adding he said it should intervene "today" and not remain neutral.

Determined protesters

Despite the clashes, anti-government protesters seeking Mubarak's immediate resignation said they would not give up until Mubarak steps down.

Khalil, in his 60s and holding a stick, blamed Mubarak supporters and undercover security for the clashes.

"But we will not leave," he told Reuters. "Everybody stay put."
Pro-Mubarak supporters on camels and horses charged at protesters [AJ online producer]

Mohammed el-Belgaty, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, told Al Jazeera the "peaceful demonstrations in Tahrir Square have been turned into chaos".

"The speech delivered by President Mubarak was very provocative as he used very sentimental words.

"Since morning, hundreds of these paid thugs started to demonstrate pretending to be supporting the President. Now they came to charge inside Tahrir Square armed with batons, sticks and some knives.

"Mubarak is asking the people to choose between him or chaos."

Ahead of Wednesday's clashes, supporters of the president staged a number of rallies around Cairo, saying Mubarak represented stability amid growing insecurity, and calling those who want his departure "traitors."

"Yes to Mubarak, to protect stability," read one banner in a crowd of 500 gathered near state television headquarters, about 1km from Tahrir Square.

A witness said organisers were paying people $17, to take part in the pro-Mubarak rally, a claim that could not be confirmed.

Other pro-Mubarak demonstrations occurred in the Mohandeseen district, as well as near Ramses Square.

Palestine: Israeli Refuse Peace

The government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused peace, it's been said by a Palestine official to AFP, after Washington said that its side has been failed to persuade Israeli to renew the moratorium of Jewish settlement developing.

“By refusing to give a clear answer to US, Israeli refuse to put the settlement development off and give a peace chance on the area,” that official said, asked not to mention his name.

US, on Tuesday (12/07/2010), stopped for asking to Israeli to renew the moratorium of Jewish settlement developing at west border of Jordan River so it would throw Palestine-Israeli meetings from deeper riots. President Barack Obama leads direct conference launch back in Washington on last September, just to see that they were at the dead set when the moratorium of settlement developing ended and Palestine refused to be back on the meeting table.

The White House and Department of State, on Tuesday, mentioned that several weeks they tried to be the facilitator of the meeting for nothing.

Egypt Desert was an Old Lake

The geologists has estimated that one of desert area in Egypt was an old lake last time. The analysis about it was published in Geology journal issued on December 2010.

The lake area was estimated bigger than Erie Lake. The range of the lake was until west side of Nile River, even it was estimated to reach Sudan's border.

The ancient lake was estimated to be formed 250,000 years ago for the first time. After forming periods, the lake got dried and had gone 80,000 years ago.

Ted Maxwell, a geologist from Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington said that by knowing the lake position and forming periods, we can know the condition of environment when people on that time started to migrate out of Africa.

"You would realize that this place was full of a big lake when people on that time migrated out of Africa, Maxwell said. It has been said that people migrated out of Africa since 200,000 years ago.

The geologists used satellite to identify and analyze when taken from 80's and 90's periods.

"It was surprise when we realize,'hey, it might be a lake area," Maxwell said.

Although it was supported by several topography proves, they were still not enough to determine if there or not the lake and how the forming is. One of supported proves is there Tushka lowland area. The area was said that it was so low enough to be flooded by Nile River water and made the lake forming.

Another prove was there fish fossil where found in the desert area and having a same characteristic with fish in Nile River. The fish fossil shows that the water had connection with Nile River.

In the meantime, one of proves that could not be found is a beach line. Maxwell said that the beach line might be gone, covered by sands which also covering the lake area.

"Another problem is there no prove of sedimentation on the area," Maxwell said when interviewed by Discovery. There was no sedimentation made us got difficulty to prove the existence of that big lake.

Even such, Christopher Hill from Boise State University, another scientist who not involved in the study, is just pretty sure that the desert area had been an old lake.

About the water source, according to Hill, Nile was not the only possibility. "About the water source, the other possibilities are the drainage from plateau to west, the water source in the ground from south, local rain and another potential," he said.

Hill also said,"The sediment remains from archeological artifact show that the lake was created from local rain or ground water. Then lake extended until the area connected with Nile River."

The Octopus Paul and The Stupidity

Paul is a name of an octopus in Germany. He has been found in Weymouth, England two years ago. Now Paul is cared in Oberhausen sea aquarium, Germany. During World Cup 2010 in South Africa, Paul could take public attention because of the accuracy to predict the winner of some games. Even Paul got a public anger in Germany when he could predict that Germany would be defeated by Serbia. In the final match, Paul predicted that Spain would be the winner against Netherland. And it comes true.
Many people think that Paul is a smart octopus because of the accuracy to predict. Even many people come to the octopus to ask to be predicted. People are astonished on Paul’s ability. Even there is a business man who wants to buy the octopus US$ 40,000.00. Wow!
Is it true that Paul the octopus a smart creature? Was it just coincidental that Paul chosen the winners in each game before it happened?
Nowadays many people are amazed on the unusual happenings. They call it as a miracle from God. But God has shown to us many miracles, right? Sometimes we don’t see it as a miracle. Look at a chameleon that can camouflage by changing the color of the body depending on the environment. Public Sympathy for The Antagonist

You must have ever heard about a real story from New Castle, England. Raoul Thomas Moat (37) has died from a dramatic ambushing by polices. He died suicide by a machine saw when police tried to ask him to surrender.
As we know Raoul Moat was the most wanted person in New Castle after his statement about war against everyone who made him separated with his ex-girl friend, Samantha Stobbart (22) and his two daughters. He has killed Samantha’s new boyfriend, Chris Brown (29) and injured David Rathband (42), a cop. Moat became the most frightening terrorist.
The story was started when Moat had made relationship with Samantha for six years. They have two daughters from the relationship. Moat was a former convict, so when he was in jail, Sam decided to break up with him. She made a new relationship with Brown, a cop. And it made Moat had a vengeful feeling. The government also did not allow him to meet his daughters because Sam neighborhood mentioned that he was a rude man.
He tried to kill Sam, but it just made her getting injured, he could kill Chris Brown and injured David Rathband during patrolling. So he became the most wanted. He stated war against police, government and everyone who has separated him from Sam and his daughters.
On July 10th, 2010 police found and surrounded him in Northumberland, New Castle, England. When some polices tried to ask him to surrender, he asked for forgiveness to Samantha and asked to tell his daughters that he loves them. What he shared his feeling to the police made many people sympathetic to him. After his death, there are many people coming to the place where he died to give condolences. They gave their sympathy for Moat. Even there is a group in Facebook to give Moat an honor, and there are thousands people join the group.
The thing that makes me thinking is people who gave their sympathy to Moat, who blame the cops and government. Do they feel what Sam and her family felt when getting terrors from Moat? Do they feel what Chris Brown’s family felt when they lost him? Do they feel the fears of Sam’s family when Moat launched his terrors to the family?
I remember there is a story about a kidnapped victim who falling in love with the kidnapper. There is a connection between the kidnapper and the victim. What the kidnapper felt afforded to crush the victim’s heart. It happened to Moat. Moat’s feelings crushed public’s hearts. People don’t care about what he has done (killing a man and injured a woman and a man), and judge that it’s a normal for Moat to do that.

Everybody in the whole world always talk about love. And people find love in a different way, from a first sight, from introduction via friends, a meeting and so on. You won’t believe it when finally you find a true love, a love that you will grab it and not let it go.
But how can we prove the true love? You can describe love like stars in the sky, it’s beautiful, but it’s too high to grab. You also can describe it like a rose flower, it’s beautiful, but it’s also dangerous because of its thorn. Usually love is described as something beautiful, but sometimes it is also described as something can hurt us, so it is dangerous too. So we can prove the true love when we make a bond with someone we believe to become a couple for rest of their life.
Love (Arabic: mahabah) is doing something but no hoping for reward. Do you think to do something sincerely is easy? I don’t think so because we must omit the egoism, individualism and materialism in ourselves. We have to realize that we live together with other people on the same planet, so we must share what we can do to everybody who needs our helps. As long we can help the other people, you do it sincerely, then you can understand what love is.
I have ever heard a song sung by George Benson, “The Greatest Love of All”. It is a nice song and I really like it. The song tells about the love inside our selves, learning to love our selves is the greatest love of all. Of course it is not about narcissism but with loving our selves, it will create a love for everybody.
I believe you know the definition of love with your own words. So tell me, I want to know what love is.

Total Motivation Part 2

1. CONTENT THEORY

1.a. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs
This theory was developed by Abraham Maslow. According to him everybody has needs arranged into a hierarchy, from a basic need, physiology until the highest need, a self actualization. People will improve the target of need after getting a lower level of need to the higher one.

1.b. XY Theory
This theory was developed by Douglas McGregor. He divided type of people into 2 types, Type X and Type Y. The type X is the type of people who doesn’t like working hard, having less of responsibility, lazy and getting achievement after being forced.
According to McGregor people with type Y is more valid than type X one.

1.c. ERG Theory
This theory was developed by Clayton Alderfer. He mentioned that the needs is arranged in a hierarchy which the basic level is Existence need, it is the need which is satisfied by some factors such as food, drink, air, salary and working condition. The higher level after existence need is Relatedness need. It is the need which satisfied by an advantage social relationship. The highest level is Growth need, it is the need which the individual would feel satisfied if enable to give some contributions creatively and productively.

1.d. Mc. Clelland Theory
Mc. Clelland mentioned about the motivation theory related with study concept. The three needs could be learnt are need for achievement, need for power and need for affiliation. He said that if someone needs are strong, so the motivation to get them are strong too.

1.e. Hygiene – Motivation Theory
According to Frederick Hersberg, there are 2 factors of motivation, they are the factor which can make people feel unsatisfied and the factor which can make people feel satisfied.

2. PROCESS THEORY

2.a. Expectancy Theory
Victor Vroom said that people choose to act based on hopes which would be got from their action. Stronger the hope, they have a high motivation to act.

2.b. Goal Setting Theory
According to Edwin Locke, people has tendency to decide the target and struggle hardly to get it. But it would be motivated when the target is acceptable, clear and there’s a big hope to be able to get it.

2.c. Reinforcement Theory
B.F. Skinner said that behavior with a positive consistence has a tendency to be repeated. The other way, the behavior with negative consistence has a tendency for not being repeated.

2.d. Equity Theory
According to J. Stacy Adam, it is assumed that people compare their effort with the others in same working situation. This theory told that people motivated to be treated fairly.

Total Motivation - Part 1

I just want to adapt from a book I bought last Ramadhan 1430 H. The title of the book is ‘Total Motivation’ written by Satria Hadi Lubis.
In this book we learn about how to motivate ourselves, because it is easy to get a motivation from our friend or a motivator, and it is also easy to give a motivation to somebody else.
When we get a motivation to burn our spirit, we feel that our spirit getting raised. But it would get down easily when there are external influences involved. It is as an impact that can occur if we cannot create total motivation in ourselves.
I remembered Mr. Arief Isnaini, SH, SE, MM, a motivator gave examples from a candy and a hundred thousands rupiahs – money. He asked if audiences want the candy when it dropped on a ground. The audiences answered that they did not want the candy. But when it was asked whether they wanted the money although it has dropped and stepped, and they answered they wanted it.
It means the money value does not change about although getting bad treatment as dropped and stepped. So we must be able to be 100% of our spirit whatever there is storm hit us.
We need to create our total motivation in ourselves. The motivation theories have been said as a science in 1950’s. There are 2 motivation theories, they are: content theory and process theory.
1. Content Theory
It consists of 5 theories. They are:

c. ERG Theory
d. Mc. Clelland Theory
e. Hygiene-Motivation Theory

Rachel Corrie, An American Activist Who Died Run Over by A Bulldozer in Gaza

I ever went to a book shop, Kharisma in Panbil Mall, Batam. My eyes were directed on a book with a tittle: Let Me Stand Alone written by Rachel Corrie. In the book it mentioned that the writer was died because she was run over by a bulldozer operated by Israeli in Gaza on Sunday, March 16th, 2003. I was curious and wanted to know about who she is.
So i browsed in internet to find out who she is and what she had done then the bulldozer run over her alive.
Her name is Rachel Aliene Corrie. She was born on April 10th, 1979 and raised in Olympia, Washington, US. She was an activist of ISM (International Solidarity Movement).
According to her parents, she had gone to Gaza, Palestine on January 22nd, 2003. After getting a training, she entered Gaza Strip on January 27th, 2003 with her friend, Willian Hewitt (also from Olympia).
She became a human shield and tried to stop a bulldozer from the demolition of a palestinian home. She sat in front of the bulldozer, but it didn't stop even drove over her twice.
The world remember her as a brave American girl who became a martyr for justice. She ever said when she was 10 years old,"We have got to understand that they have our dreams, and we have theirs. We have got to understand that they are us. We are them."
She realized what she wanted, and believed what she did without any fear.
In this life we believe that we're exist for a reason. We have a purpose and we have a dream. The question is: do we have a courage to bring it into reality?

TV

When i was a kid, i often watched many famous people on TV. Then i imagined that someday i would become one of them. I thought that being a famous, we'd get what we want, people would be impressed about what we have done and we'd be loved because we have a lot of fans.
It's a good thing that we can be shown on TV and millions people watching us. Whatever we have done, like killing, torturing, stealing, robbing, rape and another criminals. The important thing is showing on TV, right?
TV is a phenomenon and become one of main needs. We can get any informations on TV. I always get newest musics update from TV, my mom likes to watch soap opera, my brother and my sistter like to watch movies on TV and my dad likes to watch news. TV become a lifestyle in 3 decades.
Besides entertainment and information, TV has a function as education. The kids learn everything from TV. Just imagine, the small box called TV can form a behaviour of our kids. Because watching is easier to absorb to learn than listening. So the parents should take a part to guide the kids to watch TV. So when the kids grows up, they can filter the programs on TV by themselves.

Cooperative Development in Batam

We are facing bad economy situation in present condition. As we know that mostly people in Batam work in industrial as employee. The high cost of life in Batam make people do a thrift for their income to survive in Batam. There are many activities done by employees to increase the welfare, even demonstrations to demand the increase of minimum wages in the same level with proper life needs.
While employees also start to develop cooperative (economic enterprise) to support to increase the welfare from non-wages side.
Cooperative is a legal organization formed by many people with same purpose, to improve member’s prosperity. So the cooperative works as economy, social and educational organization. Cooperative is registered in Cooperative Department in Government.
There are many cooperatives formed by employees in many companies or government installations as primer cooperative. Some cooperatives join to form secondary cooperative for business expanding of each primer cooperative.
Unfortunately the knowledge about cooperative is not known well by some management from some companies. That’s the reason sometimes employee’s cooperative get difficulty to expand the business, even in company area.
There is an example of an employee’s cooperative which has grown so fast. It is KSM (Koperasi Sejahtera Mandiri), a cooperative formed by employees of Panasonic Companies Group in Batam. The main businesses of KSM are catering, minimarket, bakery shop and loan-saving for members with turnover Rp. 3 billions per month. The KSM had ever got an appreciation from President of Indonesia, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as one of national cooperatives with good performance on year 2007. Batam also should be proud of the achievement of KSM.

Masjid Raya Batam

Batam has the biggest masjid, it called Masjid Raya Batam. Because it's big, the masjid is also to become Islamic center. The activities related with Islam are done in the masjid.
We can find library where we can find many Islamic books here. If we want to register Halal certificate, there is also the MUI office which serve on it. Usually the restaurant, catering or home industry of food register Halal certificate here.
Mini market is also available to fulfill the requirements of muslims when they visit Masjid Raya. They sell snacks, soft drinks and medicines. There also sell the needs as kopyah or songkok (muslim's hat), mukena (woman's cloth for shalat or praying), sajadah (prayer rug), jilbab and koko cloth (male muslim's cloth).
The activities related with Islam is also executed in Masjid Raya such as Al-Qur'an reading course, course to make a harmony's family in Islam corridor (sakinah family course) and so on. The building of Masjid Raya Batam has taken billion rupiahs to be fame masjid in Batam. It become the icon of Batam to show that muslims in Batam are loyal to be religious.

Last 3 years ago my friend, Denni Delyandri resigned from a company where we worked together. He tried to be a business man because he did not like to be a person who just received the instruction from another person. He had a dream to be a person who has own business.
First business he made an event organizer. He organized many events like seminars of entrepreneur. Usually he made cooperation with the organizations in companies or installations like government to make events.
At the same time he and his wife also started to make home industry to sell banana cake. He introduced their product with brand Villa, as the name of house complex where they lived.
More they focused in their home industry, more the business grew. The business become one of icon for guests or tourists to get a gift brought back from the trip in Batam.
They have motto: "Batam ya kek pisang Villa."
It means when people remember Batam, kek pisang (banana cake) Villa will be in their mind.

Batam and My Friends

When my friend, Anwar Annas ended his contract from a company where he worked, we hanged out together my friends because he wanted to see Barelang Bridges for last. He worried he would not see Barelang Bridges again when he stayed in Java. So we went to Barelang Bridges. The famous bridge is 1st Bridge (jembatan satu) because it’s the biggest from the others.
Barelang bridges connect small islands with Batam island.It made villages in small islands not isolated, slowly the islands build the civilization.
On Saturday, Sunday or off days many people come to 1st Bridge to spend the time with friends or family for refreshing their minds. The bridge is beautiful when sunrise and sunset times. So for sure in the morning and afternoon it would be crowded here.
Bridge 1 become the icon of Batam, you can see the bridge picture in Batam logo. It is because the design of Batam is unique.
The main incomes of people who lives across the bridges are from farming and fishing. We can see fruits gardens such as mangoes, dragon fruit and so on.
We also went to Melur Beach. Playing around the beach and eating dragon fruit with Anwar Annas and my friends will always be my unforgettable experience.
Melur Beach is a beach from one of outer islands near Batam Island. We must pass thru 5 bridges to reach the beach. We can swim and fish here. With white sands spread beauty, it becomes a nice place to spend time with family and frinds.
Dragon fruit is one of mainstay commodity of Batam. Fruit with rich of vitamin C is a famous fruit which is exported to neighbor countries, such as Singapore, Malaysia, and so on. Many people likes dragon fruit from Batam because of good quality. So after going to Melur Beach, we spend our time by eating dragon fruit. We enjoyed it on 5th Bridge.
Now Warsono and Anwar Annas, my friends who spent time together on that day has decided to leave Batam, but the moments will never be forgotten, although we live far apart.

Nasyid Suara Kita-Kita (S2K) Batam

There are many people with many characters, many cultures and many languages. And by music, we can ignore the differences. Music is an universal language which everybody understand. Nasyid is a part of music. The lyric of nasyid is about Islam. There are many advices in the lyric of nasyid.
Nasyid grows fast in Batam. There are many groups of nasyid in Batam. Even one of nasyid group got first place in Festival Nasyid Nusantara 2009 at Johor, Malaysia that is held on April 10th - 13th, 2009. It's a good achievement done by Nasyid S2K (Suara Kita-Kita), the name of the nasyid group. It makes Batam people are proud of them because it also can make Batam known by other countries and support Visit Batam 2010.
Nasyid S2K Batam is a group of nasyid formed by Ustadz Muhammad Candra. The personnel of S2K are Junaidi (lead vocal), Bayu (tenor voice, 3rd voice), Rudy (baritone voice, 2nd voice), Raja Endi (lead vocal, bass voice) and Otis (keyboard player). The harmony of voice is their characteristic. They played kind of music for nasyid, such as: reggae, pop, malay, ballads and rock.

Batam in Juan Carlos Perspective

Batam Island is one of islands in archipelago of Indonesia. This small island is near Singapore, and it takes more than an hour to go Singapore from Batam Island by ferry boat. The geographic of Batam makes it having more benefits because it’s passed by trade route.
Batam is also known as industrial city. There are many local, national and international industries developed in Batam Island. The industrial activity make many investors from other countries put the investments in Batam, and make Batam Island grows as one of big city in Indonesia.
Beside that, Batam also has potential to interest in tourism. There are many places in Batam can be tour objects, such as: Barelang Bridge, Ex Vietnam Camp, beautiful beaches and historical places.
We can also get culinary tour in Batam, because there are many restaurants which serve sea food, as one of most favorite food in Batam.
My friend, Juan Carlos Leiva Amoros, from Peru has ever visited Batam 2 years ago. I took him to Nongsa Beach and Bridge Barelang, the bridge connecting small islands with Batam Island. He is a professional photographer and has ever made an international photography exhibition in Lima, Peru.
In his hand we can figure out the exotic sides of Batam. Nongsa Beach is one of some chooses for people who live in Batam for refreshing the mind from daily activities. Juan can show to us the other side of Nongsa Beach. We use small boat which is called pompong boat by people here to smaller island, Putri Island.
When Juan Carlos got a call from his friend by cellular phone, he said:”My friend took me in a middle of nowhere. I mean it’s beautiful beach I never seen before.”
He believes Batam can be potential charm for tourism. He’s in a middle of nowhere means he is in a place where many people have not known it yet.
It needs promotion to let everybody know. And it needs more attention from government, so let us support government to reach the goal, Batam Visit 2010.

Father

Father is a leader in our house. We cannot do anything without his permission. He's like our mother, has contribution to educate us. I remember the first time i learned to ride motorcycle. He taught me very well and instructed me for not riding motorcycle over 60 km/hours. We rode our old motorcycle to a village, because there were not many vehicles passed through the road. I also still could smell pure air without pollutions contaminated.
I was happy. I will not forget the moments. The feeling seems like we played together around fallen flowers. I remember Mia Michaels made the choreographic about a father and his child played together. This dance was performed by Neil and Lacey in American reality show, So You Think You Can Dance?
Father is like a moon in the night that shines on earth. He's a friend whenever i need an advice. He's a help whenever i need it. To say thanks to our father for what he has done to us make us ready to become a father. What he has done become our example to educate and treat our children. He's a mirror of us as a parent of our children. So don't make him disappointed. He has given us a way until we are a father.
I love my father, but i never told him even once. I don't know why it's hard to say it. But i ever heard Kenny Rogers Song, Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?
I describe it as a conversation between a child to his/her father.
One day i tried to call him. And i said that i loved him and i will always love him. I said that i feel sorry for long time never telling him that i loved him. He said that without saying this, he knew it. He said that doing something making him proud is enough for him.

Friend

Do you have friends? We don't realize that our friends have contribution to form our personality. We can share information with our friends, laugh together, tell story around us and even share what we are feeling. Sometimes you need your friend's shoulder to cry on when you get a sadness. Sometimes you scream loudly with your friend as the expression of happiness.
In Islam, there's a lesson about friendship. If the friendship is based on love of God (Allah), God will love them.
I heard Ernita, a friend of mine ever said that friendship never die. I think she's right, but if the friendship is based on love. Sometimes you will feel jealous to your friend for the success or happiness of your friend. It will make your friendship will be sunk faster than when the first time you make it. Keep your friendship, so it never end.
It's different if you don't have friend. There are many people around you, but you don't want to make friends with them. Sometimes you feel you can solve your problem by yourself. It seems like you don't need to have a friend. You're wrong. You forget that you ever feel alone sometimes. Who will help when you need it? Who will bring your body to graveyard when you're gone? You may not do it by yourself, right?
Well, start to say halo to your neighbour. Ask how your work partner is. Break your routine temporary and ask to your staff whether any problems or not. It will be good beginning to start the friendship.

Mother (Ibu)

There was a conversation between me and my mom since i was a kid.
"Mother, will i be in a hell later?" i asked. "No, my dear. You will be in heaven," she said gently.
This conversation will always be recorded in my memory and i never forget this, because i feel peaceful whenever i remember it.
We are always known better by our mother. She is always with us wherever we are. She represent God in this world.
Now we live far away from her. We sink in our activities. But a mother always wait for us at home patiently. She understand that we cannot go home to see her because of our activities. Every second she think about us, we think about our jobs, carriers, our family, our friends, our business relations etc. We forget how she treated us since we were a baby till we grew up. Actually she want to call us, but she's afraid she would bother to us while we are busy and never give her a call.
Look around us, there are many people as we are. Call our mom sometimes, my friend. Break our activity to say hello to our mom. She will be happy to hear our voice. Say that you love her so much. Say thanks to her that she had given us birth and treated us very well.
Whatever she did to us, she'll always be a mother, someone who give us life. Our ticket to enter heaven will be on our mother later.
Thanks, mom. I recognized love from you for the first time. You are the best thing in my life. Your love give me a better life and save me from a hellfire.

Dream of World Peace

Since i was a kid, i heard and watched on TV. There are many wars, disasters which caused death and people starved. And people just can watch and don't give a helping hands. Then i have a dream, i hope we can stand together, holding hands each other and making world peace.

I think i'm not alone. There are many people out there who has same imagination like mine. When the song belong to John Lenon played, i heard the lyric. It's same as my dream. So i believe i'm not alone.

Declan Galbraith with his song "Tell Me Why?" also represent what i think.

Someone must speak loudly. Someone must be able to convince the leaders in the world to make it. There are no more weapons, guns, missiles and mass killer machines. We need a wise guy who think first before doing an action, who convince the worlds based on evidences not based on slander, someone who think civilians side when he want to find who he hunt and someone who has love in his/her heart.

Well, i believe i'm not the only one who has this dream. You has it too.
